Phone with modular technology Moto Z2 Play launched by Motorola

Motorola today launched a new addition in the Z family with Moto Z2 Play at Rs. 27999. It is available for pre-booking from today and will go on sale via offline stores and Flipkart on June 14. Motorola also introduced some of the launch offer for pre-booking customer which includes Moto Armor pack – A protective accessories including an aluminium case, back shell, selfie-stick and protective film. Motorola also introduced a 100GB additional Reliance Jio 4G data offer for Jio users but this is applicable to regular buyers as well. The smartphone has a unibody metal design and sleeker as compared to its predecessor. The smartphone have round edges and a home button with fingerprint scanner underneath.

Moto Z2 Play specifications

The Moto Z2 Play features a 5.5-inch full-HD (1080×1920 pixels) Super AMOLED display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection and a pixel density of 401ppi. It is powered by a 2.2GHz Snapdragon 626 octa-core processor and runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat. This smartphone comes in two variant, 3GB RAM/32GB storage and 4GB RAM/64GB storage with microSD card support for further expansion of storage (up to 2TB). However only 4GB RAM/64GB storage variant has been launched in India.

In terms of optics, the Moto Z2 Play has a 12MP rear camera with laser and dual auto-focus, as well as LED flash. At the front, there is a 5-megapixel selfie camera with a dual-LED CCT flash. The smartphone is backed by 3000mAh battery which is smaller as compared to its predecessor Moto Z Play and supports Turbo charging which provides 50 percent charge in just 30 minutes, and the battery is rated to deliver up to 30 hours of mixed usage.

Connectivity options include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/g/b/n (2.4GHz and 5GHz), Bluetooth 4.2, USB Type-C (3.1), a 3.5mm headphone jack, NFC, FM radio, and GPS/ A-GPS. Sensors on board include accelerometer, ambient light sensor, gyroscope, magnetometer, and proximity sensor. It weighs 145 grams, and measures 156.2×76.2×5.99mm.

New Moto Mods

Motorola also introduce some Moto Mods as well. It includes Moto Power Pack, which brings additional 2200mAh battery. It comes in Black and White colour options.

The Turbo Power Pack Moto Mod, which brings an additional 3,490mAh battery capacity to the smartphone. The Mod is USB Type-C compatible,and can be charged to 50 per cent capacity in 20 minutes.

In addition, Motorola has launched a Wireless Charging Style Shell. The shell can be snapped on Moto Z smartphones to charge a via wireless pad. There is also a JBL SoundBoost 2 Moto Mod. It comes with a kickstand and is splash proof.

And finally, there is Moto GamePad mod. The device allows users to transform their Moto Z2 Play into a handheld gaming console with a simple snap. Using dual control sticks, D-pad and four action buttons for a true gaming experience, it comes with a 1000mAh built-in battery that can power the GamePad for up to 8 hours.
